I moved here from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 2013. I have lived the majority of my life there. Culturally I am Uyghur, an ethnic Muslim minority located in Central Asia (now part of China called Xinjiang). The dishes I teach in my class are a mix of the two cultures I come from. I learned to cook from my Mum. She used to call my sisters and me to assist her with cooking. I was her main helper, especially when it came to pulling noodles.When I was in high school and had our summer holiday, my mum trusted me enough to cook for the family and I insisted she write me the recipes with every little detail. I got paid for it! My mum taught me to cook several cuisines from around the world but my favourites were Saudi & Uyghur.
